Promise no more ques on virginity or Valenti but do you think that America has an obsession w/ virginity?

In her book "The Purity Myth" Jessica Valenti erts that America is obsessed w/ virginity. I know that in some circles and religious groups (think Purity and Abstinence only education) its like virginity or death but in most areas people who are virgins made fun of. There wast this girl on Tyra who said that she was called a prude for still being a virgin. She's still 16! I really think Valenti should write a book about this phenomenon. That way, she could explore both sides of the issue.
