I lose control of my cursor when I connect to the internet.?

I am running Windows XP on a Sony laptop VGN-TX770P and am suddenly having problems with my cursor when I connect to the Internet. It disappears from the screen and then reappears but jumps all over the page. I have run House Call from Trend Micro virus with no success. I am also having problems with Roxio Media Manager popping up and "reconfiguring" over and over again. Any suggestions? I am currently out of the country and have only DSL connection and NO computer repair people available.
