Can I change the timer on Windows Media Player to count up and not count down?

Hi I have WMP 12 on Windows 7. When I play music the timer to the left of the player controls in my library (left of the shuffle and repeat options) only displays a countdown, aka the time left to the end of the song. It used to be the other way around, showing the time elapsed. I'd like to know if there's any way I can change it back and what made this change happen. Also worthy of note: when I change to the now playing view the time shown is the time elapsed and not the time remaining, like the time I want in the library view.
