I dont want another rat but i only have 1 what do i do?

do i need another for sure? what do i tell my parents because after my first rat died she left my second all alone? now do i need another for her ? Do i need one 100% ? I really would just rather have her so i can bond with just her then after her get a male cause i heard that theyy are sweeter and want to snuggle more then rats? Please help me what do i do?
