How does light behave?

does light bounce off objects or is it absorbed by them? Does light p through objects on and endless journey through the galaxy? If youre alone in a completly black room then turn on a bulb, the light will fill the room and you can see. When you turn the bulb off it goes black again. So when you turn off the source of light the room is dark. What happens to the light thats in the room just as your turning off the bulb? It obviously doesnt bounce around the room and continue to illuminate the room. Does light get absorbed by objects? what happens to the photons? what happenes to the energy?
