Can you please name the trumpet solo I heard every night on TV news and weather in El Paso 1978?

It starts out with three ascending notes, like A, B, C, then jumps up, then continues slow melody. I checked about 30 Herb Alpert singles but didn't find this. This was a trumpet, but might have been accompanied.
